These new Scenecraft items caught our eye.
WITH THE DUST having barely settled since the Bachmann trade open day earlier in the month (see our reports here – pg.1, pg.2, pg.3), we are pleased to show some of the other Scenecraft items that grabbed our interest from the event, but which we weren’t able to illustrate at the time.
The new Hampton Hill signalbox is a striking structure, its post-war austerity take on the art deco style being a good replica of the real thing. This is based on Hotchley Hill on the GCR(N), just down the road from Bachmann’s HQ at Barwell. The design is not entirely unique and a few other similar boxes can be found around the country (dimensions: L170-W723-H95, Cat Ref. 44-010, priced £24.00).
This four-storey office building (dimensions: L155-W85-H90) comes in two sections (Cat Refs. 44-018 and 44-019), the latter being the extension. Both are priced £24.80.
The building is produced in a style very reminiscent of numerous structures built in the late-1950s and into the 1960s that were used for everything from railway office and schools to public administration.
The view above shows the rear view, while the image below shows the roof detail of the single building. The extension slots over this and replicates the same infrastructure on its own roof.
The Scenecraft range of figures has been available for some time, but we could resist showing the figures again. This excellent series of 1:76.2 people covers a useful range of subjects, drawn both from the railway side of the fence and street life.
