Pictures of the pre-production Class 43 power cars.
THE DEMU SHOWCASE event at Burton-upon-Trent last weekend saw Hornby displaying the first pre-production samples of the iconic HST power cars that will be launched later this year.
Some images of the two different versions are displayed here. Please note that the models are test shots only and are subject to much alteration.
The samples displayed much variation, including exhaust ports, guard’s windows (blanked or none), cooler group (revised ex-Serck and Brush) and light clusters.
The underframe shows a wealth of detail and looks to be up to the same standard exhibited on earlier Hornby locomotives like the Class 50, 56 and 60.
A comparison view between the two roof styles shows a number of interesting differences, as well as highlighting a few possible issues (these are in the process of being communicated to the manufacturer for clarification).
