News on Hornby’s ‘Grid’ releases and the RAIL EXPRESS limited edition.
ARRIVING IN SHOPS just before Christmas, Hornby’s Trainload Coal liveried No. 56128 West Burton Power Station joins the red-stripe Railfreight and Romanian blue Class 56s released a week or so back.
This is the first Railfreight sub-sector Class 56 to be produced (Cat No. R2647, RRP £95.00) and this just leaves EWS liveried No. 56059 to arrive, although apparently some shops have already accepted deliveries of the latter
No. 56128 has a different body style to the two locomotives already produced, being based on a late-Crewe built example (the Cheshire Works built Nos. 56116-56135).
A DCC decoder fitted version has also been produced (Cat No. R2647S, RRP £110.00). See the next issue of RAIL EXPRESS Modeller for the full review.
Regarding the RAIL EXPRESS Modeller limited edition ‘Grid’, Hornby has informed us that our much anticipated model of No. 56302 in Fastline Freight livery will be arriving in the UK some time in late January.
RAIL EXPRESS apologises to readers who were hoping to get the model this year, e.g. as a Christmas present, but the situation is obviously very much out of our control. Delays have effected the whole Hornby range and even the company’s own Class 56 models are only just now becoming available in any quantities.
With a 1,000 orders to process, it is expected that the model will start to be despatched from the beginning of February and should take a couple of weeks before all models have been shipped out.
