FOLLOWING THE TREMENDOUS success of our Class 37/5 ‘twin packs’ we are moving forward on a number of projects including further Class 37s featuring our refurbished flush front noses. This is your chance to influence the choice of future models and liveries.

A selection of possibilities is given below. Please tick only those that your would genuinely purchase, bearing in mind these locos will only be produced if we obtain sufficient demand to meet Bachmann’s minimum order criteria.

We will contact you if we secure enough interest in models that are of interest. All responses will be entered into a prize draw to receive their next limited edition free of charge!*

  1. graham Friend Says:

    Dear All,
My class 37 request as part of the surcvey is a DRS member 37515. I have just purchased the DRS twin pack and its Fantastic!!! My reasoning for this choice is that I can then have two identical ex-split headcode DRS Blue 37/5’s. I know the real loco is to be scrapped following a collision however, this would be a great addition to my colllection.
On a seperate note how about a Bachmann class 47 in the guise of 47832 Stobart livery, Solway Princess. This would truley be a collectable worth producing and ofcourse would be popular with Stobart and DRS fans (also when you consider extra runs of Eddie the Engine 66411 being produced)…
Finally, can you possibly speak to Simon Kohler at Hornby and ask him, on the back of the new DVT MK3b, if the class 90 will be upgraded with working lights to, to match this impressive item. By the way I shall be in touch to reserve a ‘One’ Livered example…

I hope this is of use…
    Best Regards
    Graham

  2. Gareth Says:

    Hi Graham,

Thanks for the comment and suggestions. We’ve certainly been pushing Hornby to upgrade the Class 90 (and the Class 67 as well) so we shall have to see what the future brings.

    • Andrew Says:

I don’t suppose an upgraded 67 will appear in the EWSR executive train pack that you have on offer will it? It’d seem a shame if the Mk 3 coaches and DVT look great but are let down by the loco.

      Best regards,
      Andrew

  3. MARK Says:

It would be fantastic if it could be a model of 37 510 for a first choice or 37 505 both in Intercity Swallow livery. There seems to be many freight liveried class 37s and it would be nice to have a passenger liveried example which would be more accurate than the Vitrains examples. Many thanks yours hopefully.

  4. Stuart Goulding Says:

Already put my suggestions on previous news story
also going to send in one of the forms.

But I want to know more about ABC Workshops as I would love one of those vehicles as i can’t find any information about them anywhere but your comments page attached to the magazines page is off.

  5. alex fenton Says:

personally my prefrence would be a european class 37, i like them because of there unusual spotlights in the top of the noses at each end, and i think it would be a fabulas ( pardon any bed spelling) model to preduce

  6. alex fenton Says:

as an add on to what ive saiod before, the 37 i would love to see made is 37601 in the EPS livery with all the body details on it, my god it would be a modern image must

  7. Alex Says:

Another sub sector one please. Missed out on 37507!

  8. Howard Says:

What about network rails 37100? ( 97301 ) and how about doing 66414 JAMES THE ENGINE!

  9. Jonathan Says:

How about an extremely weathered EWS Class 37/4……….. I’m sure you know the one I’m talking about!

  10. Andy Martell Says:

    Dear REM
Would like to see a West Coast Rail 37/5 and also Some of the French GIF Liveried locos.

As a thought for a new Twin pack from Hornby, how about doing models of 56311 (Colas Grey livery) and 56312 ARTEMIS (in its striking Colas purple and yellow with the HUGE “Artemis” name down the side.

  11. Howard Says:

Could you please send me a e-mail on ABC workshops SGT Coach please, as there is nothing on the web about it.

    • Alex Says:

Hi, This is me! deltic.man@virgin.net for the SGT.. any questione please feel free to ask. I agree that a Class 56 twin pack would be very nice, or a pair of NMT power cars would be even nicer!! Either way your going to have to re tool..

  12. Howard Says:

Also when 56311 is repainted in colas rail livery could you please do a limited twin pack of 56312 + 56311?

  13. Mark Says:

If it is to be a twin pack of intercity livered 37/5
which looks to be the favorite at the moment.

Can we please see some intercity livered mk3 sleeplers from Hornby (maybe some with white roofs)

Also lets have the very much needed mk1 open first from Bachmann, again with white roofs.

  14. Ian Hargrave Says:

Endorse Andy & Howard’s request for the twin 56311 & 312. Please pester Hornby to upgrade their existing mark 2,3 &4 coaches to complement their new DVT & to produce sufficient to match what is going to be a huge demand ( WSMR & Cardiff-Taunton workings top & tailed by 67,s–not to speak of their new 125 in its various guises). Also–can we finally consign the dreaded tension-lock to the history books ,introduce NEM coupling pockets & industry-standard norm couplings & coupling heights accepted by ALL manufacturers of model railway stock i.e close-coupling as Continental HO manufacturers have been producing for the last 30 years. We want trains to look like & run like their prototypes & not see daylight between coaches or wrestle with outdated & outmoded couplings

  15. Edward Gleed Says:

I would very much like to see the class 37’s released in Loadhaul and Mainline liveries, as to the best of my knowledge these have yet to be done by Bachmann. This would be a very welcome change, as we have seen EWS, “large logo”, and sub sector liveries produced in the past (albeit with centre / split headcodes) etc.

How about the class 37 in the “Police” livery of 1985, complete with flasing blue light!! I realise that this was a split headcode version but it would be different.

Looking forward to the Hornby D.V.T and will soon be placing an order.

    Regards,

    Edward.

  16. Matt Wassell Says:

Well, I’ve just placed my votes :-).
An EPS 37/6 would be great . And as an aside, I’d love to see a pair of DRS 20/3s with working lights & sound as a future ltd edition !

I’m looking forward to receiving my DRS 37 twin pack.

    Regards,

    Matt

  17. Matt Dunning Says:

Placed my vote – PLEASE intercity Swallow! Would love a 37/5 + 37/0 twin pack – numbers don’t mind! Also endorse comments re Intercity Sleepers – mention it to Simon Kohler every year but to no avail – I mean lots of short lived and unpopular liveries produced but not the longest lived and best looking livery ever carried by the Mk3 sleeper which can also run across all regions… what are they waiting for?

  18. Dennis Wenzel Says:

    … the 37670 in DBS Red …

  19. Owen williams Says:

Placed vote…..there is so many current liveries about in Ltd and Vitrains WCR, Network rail DRS etc, lets have some older liveries, Flush fronted Orig freight grey 37799 prefered and 798 in mainline and as for other Ltd edition how about 56036 in large logo. cheers owen.

  20. Andy H Says:

Just voted for Petrol subsector 37/5. Would also buy Intercity 37/5 single or twin pack. Ta

  21. Steve Says:

37707 Triple grey Petroleum sub sector with Eastfield Depot plaques and some Intercity Swallow.

  22. Mark Says:

I have to agree with Steve, he has it spot on.

  23. CHRIS Says:

Count me in for 37,707 in petroleum, Eastfield plaques and snowploughs!
    Also voted for:

    37,510 Intercity swallow and snowploughs,
37,511 STOCKTON HAULAGE in railfreight metals,
37,518 or 520 in railfreight red stripe with snowploughs,
37,711 TREMORFA STEELWORKS railfreight metals and snowploughs,

    I put a vote in for 37,503 in EW&S.

And the wild card: 37,648 PEAK NATIONAL PARK and 37,688 GREAT ROCKS both in railfreight construction!

  24. Dean Says:

37798 in Mainline blue with a set of depot plates to match, i think the real thing looked amazing when first painted & all bulled up. a good 37/7 split headcode loco is what i have been lookin for for years

  25. matt Says:

since 37507 has sold out i think it would make the most sense to do 37511 as a single loco.

in an ideal world i would like 97301, but i know there would be a lot of work required.

as a pack i would like 37503 and 504 in railfreight grey

  26. Dean Says:

How bout a twin pack of HNRC livery 37/5 & 37/0?

    • Dean Says:

Or how bout a Hornby 31 as either 31407 in Mainline freight blue, or 31466 in EWS livery? they would surely sell fast!

  27. Shaun Says:

Although not a 37/5 or 37/7, how about Preserved 37075 in BR Blue, this is an interesting 37 as it is split box at one end and ex split box at the other. It would be something different and original to see produced, although it would require a bit of work.

  28. matt Says:

recived my packs, look very nice.

please do 37419 and 670 in DB Schenker red/grey.

  29. simon bradbury Says:

i would recomend that a class 20/3 (in drs & compuss) pack should be done as the class has now been stored and most getting refurbed at eastleigh also i think that they should do a loadhaul class 37 twin pack and or a regonal railways class 31/37 and now with 37419 and 670 out shop in dbs i would say that this is a very very must as for a old class with this livery looks very smart and i would buy the pack for defo so count me in the dbs37pack

  30. kieran b Says:

plz do advenza freghts class 57s plz

  31. Matthias Says:

I vote also for DBS 37419 and 37670 in red.

  32. Dean Says:

Iv just seen 37670 roll thoug stafford in DBS livery, its gonna be a must livery she looked gorgeous, if 37419 is out in it too a twin pack really is a must!

  33. Matt Says:

I have already voted via the post after recieving the excellent DRS 37 twin pack, but as a modern era modeller, would really love the following: 37401 in EWS, 37/5 OR 37/7 in EWS, 37698 in loadhaul or 37710. Also 56312, and 66050 as named. Also with so many un named EWS 66,s on the network, more would be great, 66212, 66220,66230 etc.

  34. Matt Says:

In addition, DRS 20 twin pack ? Awesome

  35. Stuart Goulding Says:

With so many potential locomotives and liveries it would be difficult to list them and give good reasons why they should be produced. However what about rolling stock to go with the locos why not approach Hornby to produce the DRS mk3 coaches or even the Stobart ones even though they didn’t last long, the 47 locos in the same livery could also be produced by Bachmann as a twin pack. Also why not approach Dapol to produce some of their containers weathered and with patched paint work as per the real things.

There is one twin pack I would like to see produce
a 37/0 BR blue with white stripe on lower bodyside
with 97252 “ETHAL 3″ in the blue grey livery

  36. Howard Says:

I would say 37419 / 37670 in DBS Red. i would love those! put your thinking hats on REX!

  37. bry Says:

i would definately buy a pair of 37/7s in railfreight petroleum prefferably 37707 and 37708 both with the full numbers on the nose end and eastfield depot plaques. Another Metals 37/5 would be great too.

    bry

  38. Andrew Says:

My votes now in for a Sub-Sector Petroleum and EWS example. Not too fussed on numbers will be glad of any flush front 37 in these colours!

  39. Howard Says:

rail express just gotyour new mag this month ( finally ) and it says you may be doing the NMT HST, is that correct?

  40. kieran b Says:

how about advenza freghts 47237 and 47375 in a backman twin back

  41. David F. Newby Says:

I think the most obvious one to be made into a limited edition run should be 37116 ‘Sister Dora’, the former ‘celeb’. Im sure many would go for this model being a blue machine that a lot of the die hards go for, and I remember it being much sort after about 10 years ago in the years when I was finnishing school – crikey… im getting old.

I think the idea of themed packs is best, as this will mean that people will still be temtped to part with money for the extra price. I think that while this idea is limited to other 37s (a class everyone likes) other classes have many other variations that would be a welcome to a lot of modern image modellers.

The aforementioned “Great Rocks” and “Peak National park” would be nice given the naming link and indeed in something like Intercity models are craved for then something like “northern lights” and 37685 would be good given it was one of the last 37s EWS ran. My suggestion for a pack would be the Mainline branding, featuring the suggested 37803, or another centre box version in blue, with a grey liveried sister, preferably another with a name. Rhymney service engines would prove popular but given the obvious choce of 37411 and 37425 are done, the EWS machines such as 37405, 408 or 419 might be an idea, yet with other EWS releases this might not prove such a sound idea. My EWS pair wouldn’t be in corporate EWS, but rather the Royal Scotsman pairing. 37401 and 37426 both being smartened up for the train would look good, or for the fun, 37401 and a standard EWS 37 that always ended up with it!

The best news has to be the NMT idea, so put me down for one of those now…

  42. martin Says:

my opiniopn is that you should really condidder to make a pear of dbs red 37’s

  43. Tom Davidson Says:

37s in Intercity livery would go down a treat.
Echoing some of the comments above, a new Hornby Class 90 would be very gratefully received – but I think it might be a while before we see my favourite Class 91.

  44. Alex Fenton Says:

dear rail express: noticing a lot of people asking for different classes to the 37 i do have 2 thoughts for twin packs, the British steel class 60 and corus class 60s in a double pack, they are needed in my view

  45. John Says:

De-branded Transrail class 37402 “Bont y bermo” complete with small EWS beastie under cab window?

Transrail class 37674 “St. Blaize Church 1445-1995″ ?

EWS class 37408 “Loch Rannoch” prior to its accident with red buffer beams and black headcode?

Regional railways pair class 37420 and 37422?

  46. Chris King Says:

Only one possible choice really, and that is for
    37.701 in original Railfreight grey.

  47. Chris King Says:

Voting for a Bachmann class 37/7………….
Only one possible choice really, and that is for
    37.701 in original Railfreight grey.

  48. Howard Says:

    DBS 37419 + 37670.

    HSTHoward

  49. Si Says:

It would be a bit stupid doing the loco @ the top of the page

Please only pick locos that lasted to the end such as 796 in coal – this way it benfits everyone!

BTW its about time bachmann did a EW@S 37 – 503 all the way!!!

  50. John Waddington Says:

How about a super detailed weathered Dutch 37254 with frost grills, snowploughs and Canton Plaques, I know there has been a recent version of 254 in blue but it wasn’t a very good replica as it was missing frost grilles etc which the locomotive carried its whole working life…

    Would be a bit HELLFIRE!!

  51. jamie Says:

i would like an intercity liveryed one, or one of the ews livery ones.
they just look hellfire in that livery?

  52. Alex Says:

Hi, what’s this I hear about 511 being released as a follow on to 507? I would be interested in 511 if in metals!
